New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said a political leader had promised to support him for the post of the Prime Minister, but he did not accept it because he didn’t want it.
Gadkari remembered an incident in Nagpur where somebody said to him: ”If you want to become Prime Minister, we will support you.” He refused to say the name of that person or when it was done.

Gadkari Ranked Third In Survey For Potential PM
Nitish a Gandakri was also cited as one of the likely PM in both 2024 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. India Today’s February Mood of the Nation survey places Gadkari at third as the best one to outdo Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, behind Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath.
The question arose in 2019 and was shut down by Gadkari saying, “India is in the able hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He said, ‘We all support him. I’m just another worker of the party helping with his vision. The idea of me being Prime Minister doesn’t come up. I’m not aiming to be PM and I don’t have that dream,” Gadkari said in March 2019.
Gadkari, who is a stalwart BJP face with very strong backing from the RSS, has won the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat thrice. He has been the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways for more than ten years. Earlier, he was the BJP’s national president between 2009-2013.
