Parag Desai, the Executive Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group passed away at the age of 49, according to multiple reports. He is survived by his wife, Vidisha, and daughter, Parisha.
Tragically, on October 15, Desai suffered a brain hemorrhage after falling outside his residence while attempting to escape from street dogs that had attacked him, as reported by the Ahmedabad Mirror. A security guard notified the family of the incident, and Desai was promptly taken to the nearby Shelby Hospital for treatment. After a day of observation, he was transferred to Zydus Hospital for surgery, according to sources mentioned in the paper.
Desai, who had been on a ventilator for seven days, passed away at a private hospital in Ahmedabad on October 22, as reported by The Times of India, citing sources.
His final rites were conducted at the Thaltej crematorium at 9 am today, as mentioned in the Ahmedabad Mirror’s report.
Parag Desai, an entrepreneur, was the son of Rasesh Desai, the Managing Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. With over three decades of experience in entrepreneurship, Desai played a key role in overseeing the company’s sales, marketing, and export divisions. The company boasts a turnover of over ₹1,500 crore.
Desai was not only a prominent figure in the industry but also a prolific tea taster. He was associated with various organizations, including the Federation of Indian Industry (CII). The Wagh Bakri website highlights his expertise as a tea taster and evaluator, and it mentions that he held an MBA from Long Island University in the USA.
