Viral Video: A chilling video of a group of tourists stuck at frozen Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh has taken the internet by storm. The viral video shows four individuals including two women shouting and pleading for help after falling into the freezing waters. The tragedy was however averted after some bystanders successfully rescued the stranded people with the help of bamboo sticks.
The video highlights the dangers of winter tourism in such regions. Meanwhile, the incident has prompted the authorities to take action and advise visitors to follow safety protocols.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the video on X urging visitors to ‘drive carefully on slippery snow roads and be aware of snow avalanche’.

The incident has sparked concerns among social media users with many emphasizing the need for sign boards. A user said, “Pls provide a warning sign board should be there for the safety of people.”
A second user remarked, “Be careful.” A third user wrote, “People don’t realise the dangers of Frostbite -more dangerous than the cold.”
Meanwhile, a fourth user recalled the time when a similar incident happened with him, saying, “Sir this actually happened with me in Ladakh at the junction of river Indus and river Zanskar. It was around X’mas and river had frozen. I started walking over it and then ice broke & I plunged into the frigid water! Thankfully my dad and brother pulled me out safely.”
