Delhi was enveloped in a thick blanket of fog this morning, creating a haunting scene across the city and the National Capital Region (NCR). Aerial footage shared by news agencies showcased the city shrouded in fog, significantly reducing visibility and impacting daily life for residents.
Impact On Travel
This dense fog has caused major disruptions in both air and rail travel for the third consecutive day. At Indira Gandhi International Airport, visibility dropped to zero around 7:30 AM, leading to over 155 flight delays and at least eight cancellations. Airport officials warned passengers that flights without advanced navigation systems might face significant delays.
The fog also affected train services, with more than 50 trains delayed by an average of four to six hours. Passengers were advised to check their train statuses before heading to the stations.

Weather Conditions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for continued dense fog during the morning hours. This weather pattern has made it difficult for residents to go about their daily routines. On Saturday, Delhi experienced its longest period of zero visibility this season, lasting an unprecedented nine hours.
The cold wave gripping the region has also contributed to poor air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reported at 377, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Residents are encouraged to take precautions while traveling and stay updated on weather conditions.
As Delhi continues to deal with this thick fog, authorities are urging travelers to remain cautious and plan their journeys accordingly. The combination of low visibility and cold temperatures has made this winter particularly challenging for many in the capital.
