Ahmedabad: A viral video showing a young woman jumping from the balcony of her building to escape fire is doing the rounds on the internet. According to reports, a massive fire broke out in an apartment located on the fourth floor of the building in Aatrey Orchid Society on Tuesday. Fire ripped through the building and soon spread to the fifth floor.
To escape the fire, the woman jumped off the 5th floor of the building, screaming all the way down. Fortunately, she was rescued after landing on the inflated cushions and mattresses placed on the ground. Reports stated that over thirty people were rescued by the firefighters who were present on the spot. Meanwhile, the videos of the incident circulating online showed orange flames and black smoke leaping out of the building.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire broke out in the air conditioning system of an apartment. Within moments, it engulfed the apartments, located in the ‘C’ and ‘D’ wings. Several other videos circulating on social media showed people throwing their children to safety before jumping off the building.
The incident sparked fear and chaos among the society’s residents, who were seen desperately making attempts to escape the fire. Meanwhile, nervous people on the ground placed mattresses on the ground to block their fall. Reports added that the fire was triggered by combustible materials present on the surrounding flats of the building.
