Passengers on an Air India flight at Delhi airport said they were made to sit inside the plane without air-conditioning on Sunday. The flight was supposed to go to Patna.
Air India replied to a post on social media saying the delay was due to “operational reasons” and that they had asked their team to help passengers in real-time.
The temperature in Delhi on Sunday was 41.1°C, which is slightly higher than usual for this time of year, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Here is Air India’s response to renowned journalist Sukesh Ranjan after he shared the video on his X account.

Passengers Sweat Inside Air India Flight Without AC
One of the passengers, Rishi Mishra, who is an MLA from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, shared a video on social media to show what happened.
“This is an Air India flight to Patna. Today is May 18, and it is 4 pm. We are inside the plane for an hour without air-conditioning. You can see how much we are sweating. Children are affected, many people are affected, but there is no one to look into this matter,” Mr Mishra said, with sweat on his forehead.
Mr Mishra’s brother-in-law, Dr. Bipin Jha, who is a surgeon, also raised the issue on social media. He wrote on X, “Regarding AI2521 Delhi to Patna flight ! Air condition did not work and hundreds of passengers were on board in this scorching heat for 3 hours ! My brother in law who is a politician and EX MLA became unwell ! Can you fix this for the future please.”
Air India replied to him, “Dear Mr. Jha, thank you for telling us about this. The flight was delayed because of some operational issues. We have informed our team to help passengers as quickly as possible. We hope you understand.”
