Ahead of its launch by PM Narendra Modi on Monday, the ‘Vande Metro’ service has now been officially renamed ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’ service. This rapid rail is all set to be flagged off along with other Vande Bharat trains by the Prime Minister on September 16 a day before his birthday on September 17.
Route, speed and destinations
The much anticipated Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will run between Bhuj located in Kutch and Ahmedabad, one of the state’s biggest cities. It will take five hours forty-five minutes to cover the distance of 360 kilometers linking inter-cities, and sub-urban areas to the main cities.

The train which has stoppages at Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya, Sabarmati and Kalupur (Ahmedabad) will run at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is a mixed concept of metro train and intercity rapid rail services. With a sitting capacity of 1,150, it may carry up to 2,058 standing passengers.
Amenities on the train
The train comes with fully air-conditioned coaches and cushioned sofas along with engines at both ends. The charges are as feasible as Rs. 30 and range up to Rs. 430 plus taxes if a passenger chooses to take a complete ride from Bhuj to Ahmedabad.

As metro and local train passes, this train service also provides weekly, fortnightly and monthly tickets to frequent travellers with substantial benefits. It will operate six days a week and will remain closed from Bhuj on Saturdays and from Ahmedabad on Sundays. The train is set to run regularly for the public from September 17.
