Uttarakhand Weather: IMD Issues Orange Alert! Warns Of Intense Storms In 5 Districts; Chardham Yatris Urged To Exercise Caution

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Monday.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for rain in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand on Monday and tomorrow. The Meteorological Centre Dehradun has alerted about the warning issued for Uttarakhand on May 19 and provided a detailed forecast. An orange alert has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, intense spell of rain, gusty winds over the districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. In light of the adverse weather conditions, the Uttarakhand Police has requested Chardham Yatra pilgrims to travel carefully, and call 112 in case of any emergency.

Forecast For Today:

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places in Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Almora, Champawat and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand.

Whereas, very light to light rain/thunderstorm is expected to occur at a few places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/hail/ gusty winds at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Almora, Champawat and Nainital.

The rainy spell will continue tomorrow as well. Here’s the detailed forecast:

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has been forecast over Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Champawat.

Rain will lash Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri, Almora, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar also.

Moreover, very light to light rain/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun and Haridwar.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during stormy conditions, avoid open areas, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
