Uttarakhand Tunnel Collapse: First Visuals Of Trapped Workers Captured Through Camera

The rescue officials in Uttarakhand on Tuesday captured the first visuals of 41 workers who were trapped inside the tunnel.

The rescue officials in Uttarakhand on Tuesday captured the first visuals of 41 workers who were trapped inside the tunnel. A camera has been sent inside the tunnel through a 6-inch pipe to track the trapped workers. It is the same pipe which is used to send food to the workers.

In the latest video the workers are been directed to come in front of the camera, “Aap camera ke paas walkie talkie pe aake baat karein”, an official is heard saying them. Earlier, the officials tried to contact the workers through walkie talkies.

Reportedly, the trapped workers were provided with khichdi in glass bottles through the pipe compared to dry fruits and water that could be sent to them in the last 10 days.

According to rescue operation in-charge Colonel Deepak Patil, workers will be sent mobiles, and chargers through the pipe.

The Centre has devised a five-option action plan that involve drilling from three sides to access the trapped workers.

The rescue operation is carried out by multiple agencies, including NDRF, SDRF, BRO, and the ITBP. Besides, an expert from abroad has also arrived at the spot yesterday. A robotics team from defence research organization DRDO has also reached.

In a tragic incident that took place in Uttarakhand, 41 workers have been stuck since last Sunday after a portion of the tunnel collapsed. The officials said that the workers are safe and provided with basic food and water through steel pipes that have been drilled into the opening.

The under-construction tunnel is part of the ambitious Char Dham project, a national infrastructure initiative to enhance connectivity to the Hindu pilgrimage sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
