A couple from Uttarakhand is facing a life threat after their details have gone viral on social media. The couple’s marriage notice under the Special Marriage Act has been shared on the internet. The couple had faced life threats in the past after a few religious and political outfits opposed their marriage.
According to reports, the couple submitted their marriage notice at the Bazpur SDM court on January 7.
The man told The Times of India that he and his wife are facing life threats since the details went viral on social media. The woman said that her mother was against the marriage from the beginning, and a few religious outfits are putting pressure on her to oppose their marriage.
According to media reports, the couple started dating in 2022. After the woman’s mother objected to their relationship, the woman tried to pursue her for marriage. She agreed on a condition that she would snap ties with her post-marriage. Despite objections, the couple got married. Later, they started receiving threats from the outfits.
The man approached the Uttarakhand High Court and sought security. The high court directed the police to give them protection for six months and asked the police to review their security after the period.
