Speaking to ANI, Garhwal DC stated that police and administration officials have been instructed to stop the pilgrims in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Sonprayag and Vikasnagar. The decision has been taken in light of the heavy rainfall triggering possibility of landslides, and IMD’s weather forecast for the state. Heavy downpour usually causes flooding, blocks road and triggers landslides in the upper regions of Uttarakhand.

Devotees have been asked to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and not leave for the travel sites till the weather becomes normal. The decision regarding further travel will be taken after reviewing the weather conditions and routes tomorrow.

Continuous rainfall in the hill state has caused major disruptions, including the blockage of the National Highway near Nandprayag and Bhaneropani. Authorities in Rudraprayag also restricted movement on the Sonprayag–Munkatiya road due to landslides and falling debris earlier this week.
