Uttarakhand: Bus Falls Into Gorge In Almora; 23 Dead, 20 Injured

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has spoken to Secretary Disaster Management, Commissioner Kumaon Division and DM Almora over the phone on the bus accident in Almora.

Uttarakhand: Bus Falls Into Gorge In Almora, Many Feared Dead, Rescue Operation Underway

In a tragic incident reported from Almora district in Uttarakhand, 23 died and 20 were injured after Garwal Motors Users’ bus fell into a gorge near Kupi in Ramnagar at Pauri-Almora border. SDRF and NDRF have reached the spot; search and rescue operation is underway, said the officials.

Police headquarters spokesperson IG Nilesh Anand Bharne informed that 23 people have died in the Almora bus accident. Speaking to ANI, he said that more than 45 people were travelling in the bus.

PMO Announces Ex-Gratia Of Rs 2 Lakh

The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Almora, Uttarakhand. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000″ PMO

Uttarakhand Chief Minsiter Pushkar Singh Dhami took cognisance of the bus accident and wrote on X, “Very sad news has been received about the casualties of passengers in the unfortunate bus accident that took place in Marchula of Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations swiftly.”

Dhami added, “The local administration and SDRF teams at the accident site are working rapidly to evacuate the injured and take them to the nearest health center for treatment. Instructions have also been given to airlift seriously injured passengers if required.”

Uttarakhand CM Instructs To Speed Up Rescue Efforts

Furthermore, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has spoken to Secretary Disaster Management, Commissioner Kumaon Division and DM Almora over the phone on the bus accident in Almora and taken information about the incident. He has further instructed to speed up the rescue and relief work.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed to suspend the ARTO enforcement of the concerned area of ​​​​Pauri and Almora. The CM has directed to provide assistance of Rs 4 lakhs each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakhs each to the injured.

Uttarakahnd CM said that seriously injured in the bus accident in Almora district have been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh and Sushila Tiwari Hospital Haldwani for better treatment. He further announced that he has canceled his programs scheduled for today.
