Hapur: A wanted criminal involved in multiple cases and an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been killed in a joint operation. The operation by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi Police Special Cell achieved this success, stated officials on Wednesday. The notorious criminal has been identified as Naveen Kumar, a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad. He was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries during an encounter in the Thana Kotwali area, Hapur on Wednesday night.
He was wanted in a murder and MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) case of Thana Farsh Bazar in Delhi. According to the officials, he was an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and a sharpshooter. Notably, twenty cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery and MCOCA, were registered against him in Delhi and UP. A court in Delhi had sentenced Kumar in two cases.
In another incident on May 27, a criminal was injured in encounter that took place between police and criminals during vehicle checking in Thana Phase 2 area of Noida. During police firing, one criminal was injured after being shot in the leg. While the other criminal managed to escape from the spot. Police has admitted the injured criminal to the hospital. Police claimed that the criminal caught is a vicious robber and thief.
Central Noida DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy stated that on Tuesday morning, Thana Phase 2 police was checking vehicles at Kakarala Pushta Tiraha. Then the police signalled two people riding a bike to stop. Instead of stopping, the criminals turned the bike and started running towards Sorkha. Following this, the police team started chasing them. Seeing themselves surrounded, the criminals started firing on the police.
The DCP said that a criminal was injured by a bullet in the police retaliatory firing. While his partner escaped from the spot. The injured miscreant was identified as Prince Kumar, resident of village Pachiya, Thana Nardiganj, District Nawada Bihar. The accused was currently living in Salarpur village of Noida.
