Suresh Khanna shared that the government plans to spend Rs 1,050 crore on these projects. He also mentioned that the new expressways will enhance connectivity to three major religious cities: Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Haridwar.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to strengthen the state’s expressway network. These new projects will make it easier for residents to travel and will help improve the state’s economy. On Thursday, while announcing the budget for the 2025-26 financial year, state Finance Minister Suresh Khanna revealed that the government plans to build four new expressways.
Khanna explained that the government will spend Rs 1,050 crore on these projects. He also mentioned that these expressways will help connect three important religious cities: Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Haridwar. He added that the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will be responsible for building these expressways.
Khanna mentioned that a new link expressway will be built to connect the Ganga Expressway to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. He explained that the government plans to spend Rs 4,837.64 crore to construct this 90.83 km long expressway. The government is also planning another project called the Vindhya Link Expressway. This will connect the Ganga Expressway to Sonbhadra, passing through Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, and Chandauli. He said around Rs 22,400 crore will be spent on building this 320 km long expressway.
In addition to these two projects, the state government is also planning to expand the Ganga Expressway to link Meerut with Haridwar. This expansion will ensure the Ganga Expressway connects three important pilgrimage cities: Kashi, Prayagraj, and Haridwar. The total cost for this 594 km long Ganga Expressway project is expected to be Rs 36,230 crore.
The finance minister said that the state government is dedicated to boost the infrastructure for better industrialistaion in the major cities of the state. He told everyone about the Global Investors Summit was successful for industrial development as MoUs worth Rs 36 lakh crore were signed at the summit. He also mentioned that the conversion rate is also extraordinary as investment of more than Rs 6.50 lakh crore has already come to the state.
