Uttar Pradesh: Three children from same family die of fever within 48 hours in Kushinagar — Health dept launches probe

Three children from a village have died within 48 hours after falling ill with fever. The health department has examined 57 children for malaria and dengue, provided medicines where needed, and taken preventive measures by spraying disinfectants and bleaching powder.

Three children from the same family died within 48 hours after developing a fever in a village here, officials said. The incident has raised serious concern, and a team of doctors has been sent to the area to test other children for illnesses such as malaria and dengue. The exact cause of the deaths will be known after the medical reports come in. The first child, Manju, daughter of Pintu Gaur, fell sick a week ago. Her family first took her to a local doctor, but when her condition didn’t improve, she was taken to the district hospital. She died there on Wednesday.

Soon after, Gaur’s younger daughter, Khushi, also developed a high fever. Her condition worsened, and she was referred from the district hospital to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur. She passed away on Friday morning.

Investigation underway to find reason

In another tragedy for the family, Krishna, son of Gaur’s elder brother Dashrath, also caught a fever. He died on Friday morning while being taken to Padrauna for treatment. These three deaths in one family have alarmed the health department. Officials set up a medical camp in the village and started an investigation to find out what caused the sudden deaths. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Maurya, in charge of the Nebua Naurangia Community Health Centre, said that a medical team has been stationed in the village for the last two days to examine and treat children. "The exact cause of the deaths will be confirmed only after the medical reports come," he further stated.
