Azamgarh police have arrested a man accused of raping a minor after capturing him post an encounter within 24 hours of the complaint. The minor was home alone when the incident took place, as her parents had ventured out for work. The suspect allegedly entered the home and committed the horror.
When the parents returned home, the minor told them about the incident and they promptly submitted a complaint at the police station. Officers registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and initiated a search for the one suspected. According to SP City Madhuban Kumar Singh, police of Mehnagar station were given information that Javed (the suspect) was trying to escape.
Officers approached the suspect (while) he allegedly fired upon the police. Police unit retaliated in a controlled manner and the suspect was hit with a bullet in his right leg. Subsequently he was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment. A country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered. Police said action would be taken against the suspect with harshest of punishment.
