Northern India, including Uttar Pradesh, is in the grip of intense cold. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe cold alert in 45 districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of a cold wave continuing until January 17. Although a decrease in temperatures may be observed thereafter, people are unlikely to find relief from the cold. The weather department predicts that dense fog will persist in Uttar Pradesh for the next 3 to 4 days along with the cold wave.

The sharp cold in the state has led to an extension of holidays for schools. In most parts of Uttar Pradesh, the visibility has reduced significantly due to the dense fog, making it quite challenging for drivers to navigate their vehicles.
