Lucknow: In a bizarre turn of events, a thief broke into a doctor's residence in Sector-20 of Indira Nagar but fell asleep due to extreme intoxication. He woke up the next morning surrounded by policemen from the Ghazipur police station.

The incident occurred in Sector-20 of Indira Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Ghazipur police station.

Reports indicate that the targeted house in Indira Nagar Sector-20 of Lucknow belongs to Sunil Pandey, a doctor at Balrampur Hospital currently stationed in Varanasi, leaving the house unoccupied. Neighbors grew suspicious upon finding Mr. Pandey’s door ajar in the morning. When they peered inside, they saw the house ransacked with items strewn about.

The Ghazipur police were called in and found the thief, identified as Kapil, sleeping. They arrested him and charged him under IPC section 379 A for theft. Ghazipur Station House Officer (SHO) Vikas Rai stated that further legal proceedings were underway. According to the official, the intruder tampered with the water pump and attempted to remove the house battery before succumbing to drowsiness.

The official said the thief broke into the cupboards and took everything, including cash. He even attempted to steal the washbasin, gas cylinder, and water pump.

The official added that the thief seemed to have collapsed from intoxication while attempting to remove the battery and fell asleep.
