Uttar Pradesh: At least 8 people were killed and 43 others were injured after a container truck hit a tractor carrying devotees of Gogaji late at night on Monday. The death toll has now risen to 9. According to reports, the vehicle was en route to Gogamedi in Rajasthan from Kasganj, near Ghatal village on National Highway 34 under the jurisdiction of Bulandshahr police station.
According to Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh, the tragedy occurred on National Highway 34, near the Aligarh border, around 2:15 a.m. Around 60 to 61 people were traveling in a tractor from Kasganj district to Rajasthan when a container came from behind and hit it.

“A container coming from behind hit it at high speed, due to which the tractor overturned, and a large number of people were injured. 8 people have died. 45 people are currently undergoing treatment, with the condition of all except 3 being reported as fine. Those three are on a ventilator right now. The tractor has been removed from the spot. The truck that caused the accident is in police custody,” SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh said.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives in the road accident in Bulandshahr. The statement issued by the CM’s Office said, “The Chief Minister has directed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and ensure their proper treatment. At the same time, he has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister has directed that financial assistance of ₹2-2 lakh be provided to the families of the deceased and ₹50-50 thousand to the injured. The cost of proper treatment for all the injured will be borne by the UP Govt.”
