The Uttar Pradesh police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his one-year-old son to death while in an inebriated condition.
According to PTI, the accused has been identified as Rupesh Tiwari. A police officer said Rupesh struck his son, Kinu, with a sharp-edged weapon. The incident took place in Suremanpur village in the Bairia area on October 4.
The boy was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The police officer said the victim’s body was sent for postmortem.
The officer added that Rupesh consumes alcohol regularly, and on the fateful day, he returned home in a drunken state and started beating his wife, Rina.
Rupesh’s wife took shelter in a neighbour’s house, fearing her husband along with her father-in-law. Later, they found Rupesh attacking her son.
The police have registered a case against Rupesh under Sections 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Rupesh has been arrested by the police.

“Taking cognisance of the video that was circulating on the internet yesterday, the police immediately took action and registered a case against those who appeared guilty through the video, and further action is being taken,” said Shubham Singh, ACP Dashashwamedh, Varanasi.
