Bareilly: 85-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Alleged Assault

An 85-year-old woman died after being allegedly raped at her home in Hafizganj, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The 35-year-old suspect, Rakesh, has been arrested.

An 85-year-old woman died after being allegedly raped in her home in Hafizganj, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, according to police reports.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Rakesh, a local resident, has been apprehended. Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya stated that the woman lived alone following the deaths of her husband and son. Her brother and sister-in-law reside nearby, and her daughter-in-law lives with them.

Arya mentioned that the daughter-in-law, upon visiting the victim’s home around 1 pm, was shocked to find Rakesh assaulting her mother-in-law. When the daughter-in-law raised an alarm, Rakesh fled the scene, prompting the family to alert the authorities immediately. Unfortunately, the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

The police arrived at the scene and arrested Rakesh. Arya noted that the suspect, an alcoholic, is currently under interrogation. A panel has been assigned to perform the post-mortem examination of the deceased.
