Political strategist Prashant Kishor has stirred controversy on social media by suggesting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could exceed its 2019 Lok Sabha election performance of 303 seats due to the absence of significant dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, noted American political scientist Ian Bremmer has forecasted that the ruling party is likely to achieve its highest-ever seat count.
Earlier this week, Prashant Kishor stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP is set to return to power with either “similar or slightly improved numbers.” He emphasized that there is no “widespread public anger” against the prime minister or his party.
When asked about his prediction for the current Lok Sabha elections, Bremmer gave an optimistic outlook, suggesting that the party could win between 295 and 315 seats. In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party stormed to power by winning 282 seats, and along with the National Democratic Alliance, they secured a total of 336 seats.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP increased its tally, winning 303 seats. In total, the NDA crossed the 350-mark, making it the only party besides the Congress to achieve this feat.

The Congress-led INDIA bloc aims to challenge the BJP’s support base in the Hindi heartland. Meanwhile, the BJP is targeting the magical ‘400’ figure, aiming to maintain its seats in northern and western states while making gains in southern states like Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
The BJP also hopes to improve upon its 2019 tally of 18 seats in West Bengal. Bremmer further observed that there wasn’t “a lot of uncertainty about the Indian political system,” as reported by NDTV.
He indicated that Modi is very likely to secure a third term due to strong economic performance and consistent reform, which sends a stabilizing message in the broader context. Additionally, he mentioned that India is expected to become the world’s fourth-largest economy next year and the third-largest by 2028.
