Needless to say, death is the most profound and mysterious aspect of life for most humans. Many of us also keep wondering what happens after death, but there are no answers to this mind-bending question.
However, a radiation oncologist in the US who claims to have studied more than 5,000 near-death experiences (NDE) believes that life exists after death, ”without a doubt.”

Notably, Dr. Jeffrey Long’s fascination with near-death experiences also led to him founding the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation in 1998. Recently, he published an essay based on his experiences in Insider. He defined NDEs as ”someone who is either comatose or clinically dead, without a heartbeat, having a lucid experience where they see, hear, feel emotions, and interact with other beings.”
Over the course of time, Dr. Jeffrey Long has been amassing accounts from individuals who have recounted their near-death experiences (NDEs), subjecting these narratives to scientific scrutiny. While each story naturally exhibits its own distinctiveness, he discerned a recurring sequence of events that manifested predictably in numerous cases.
Approximately 45% of those who undergo an NDE, as reported by Long, describe an out-of-body experience. He expounded that these individuals assert that their consciousness separates from their corporeal form, often hovering above it. This detachment permits them to observe and hear occurrences transpiring in their surroundings.
Following the out-of-body phenomenon, these individuals purportedly find themselves transported into an alternate realm. A common motif involves traversing through a tunnel and encountering a luminous light. Deceased loved ones, including pets, greet them at this juncture, portrayed in the prime of their lives. An overwhelming sense of love and tranquility ensues. According to Long, these individuals believe that this alternate realm is their true home.
Corroborating these claims, Long incorporated statements from witnesses to validate these accounts. To illustrate, he shared an incident where a woman lost consciousness while riding her horse on a trail. Despite her body remaining on the trail, her consciousness journeyed with the horse as it galloped back to the barn. Subsequently, she accurately recounted the events at the barn, even though her physical presence was absent. Others who had not conversed with her substantiated her description.
Acknowledging his efforts, Long admitted that he has never managed to uncover a “scientific explanation for these experiences.” He asserted, “I’ve read brain research and considered every possible explanation for NDEs. The bottom line is that none of them hold water.”
Other medical professionals engaged in analogous research have concurred with Dr. Long’s observations, citing several shared attributes.
