The Uttar Pradesh Police said a 30-year-old woman died by suicide in Ballia district. The woman ended her life after consuming poison in Trikalpur village under the Sahatwar police station limits.
According to police, the 30-year-old woman took the extreme step after her mother-in-law allegedly scolded her for applying color to her father-in-law.
Dhanwati Devi consumed poison after being confronted by her mother-in-law. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment, but she died in the evening.
The SHO said that the police took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.
The woman was upset after her mother-in-law admonished her for playing Holi with her father-in-law. The police initiated a probe into the matter.
A couple of days back, a 37-year-old woman died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Panvel. The woman was a housewife, and her husband was a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. The woman had allegedly thrown her eight-year-old daughter from the balcony of her 29th-floor apartment.
