A 27-year-old woman was allegedly drugged, raped, and blackmailed over an obscene video in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, police said.
According to PTI, the 23-year-old accused has been identified as Ashish Kumar, a resident of Ropanpur village in Mau district.
As per the complaint, the accused met the victim two years ago on Instagram and befriended her.
The woman alleged that the accused called her to meet him, where he drugged and raped her and recorded an obscene video of her.
After the incident, he allegedly blackmailed the woman with the video and continued to rape her over the past 18 months.
The police registered a case against the accused under charges of rape and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
CBI arrests two senior officials for accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a superintendent of CGST & Central Excise Commissionerate, Nashik, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant.
According to an official press release, during searches conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused, the CBI recovered Rs 19 lakh in cash, along with other incriminating documents.
The CBI registered the case on Tuesday based on allegations that the accused initially demanded an undue advantage of Rs 50 lakh to refrain from taking legal action against the complainant in a matter involving the IGST input of a private company. This amount was later reduced to Rs 22 lakh. It was also alleged that the accused instructed the complainant to deliver Rs 5 lakh on October 14th and the remaining Rs 17 lakh on October 17th.
