Firozabad: Violent unrest broke out in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, following the reported death of a 25-year-old Dalit man while in police custody.

The incident unfolded after the victim, identified as Akash, was arrested on June 19 on theft charges, during which the police recovered a two-wheeler in his possession.

On the subsequent day, Akash fell ill while in police custody and received initial medical attention.

As Akash’s health worsened, he was hospitalized on June 21 and passed away during treatment.

Simultaneously, the family accused the police of assaulting him while in custody.

Upon Akash’s body being brought home, his family confronted the police team and set fire to several vehicles.

Regarding the incident, police mentioned that Akash’s postmortem has been conducted, and they will soon release the report and other relevant information to the media.

An official stated that the police team employed necessary measures to ensure peace and order in the locality.
