A man awarded life-term by a court after being found guilty of raping a one-year-old stepdaughter. He was also fined with Rs one lakh. The local court concluded the trial within 14 days.
According to a report by PTI, Prosecution lawyer Prahu Narayan Singh said that the special judge convicted the man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl’s mother reported the incident on July 20. She alleged that the girl was sexually assaulted by her husband on July 18 when she was away for transplanting rice. She said the girl sustained injuries and was bleeding form a private part.
The prosecution lawyer said that the charge sheet was filed on September 12, and the court commenced daily proceedings from September 15.
Delhi court reserves order on bail plea of Gaganpreet Kaur in Dhaula Kuan BMW crash case
In another case, Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Thursday reserved its order on the bail plea of Gaganpreet Kaur, arrested in connection with the Dhaula Kuan BMW crash case in which Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh died.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Ankit Garg reserved the order after perusing CCTV footage of the incident and hearing arguments from Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Atul Shrivastava, defence counsel Pradeep Rana, and the counsel for the complainant.
The order will be pronounced on September 27, when the accused will also be produced before the court.
During the hearing, the Delhi police played the CCTV footage of the incident in court.
