A bike-taxi rider has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman during her trip from Ghaziabad to Noida. The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Noida’s Sector 80, where the 20-year-old victim, who works as a chef, reported that the driver touched her inappropriately while they were traveling.
The accused, identified as Anuj Sehra, 40, was apprehended after police reviewed CCTV footage from the area. According to the police, the woman booked the ride online and was picked up by Sehra on his Honda Activa scooter. During the journey, he allegedly made unwanted physical contact with her. When she protested, he reportedly misbehaved further.
Upon arriving at Sector 80, the woman ended the trip and immediately informed her family about the incident. They accompanied her to the Phase 2 police station in Noida to file a formal complaint. The police registered a case under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
Police quickly arrested Sehra in Noida after analyzing the CCTV footage. The investigation is ongoing as authorities gather more information regarding the incident and any potential prior offenses by the suspect.
