Lucknow stations name change: On August 27, it was announced that Northern Railways had renamed eight railway stations of Uttar Pradesh. It was approved by the Competent Authority, stated renaming of railway stations falling under the Lucknow division of Northern Railways.
The eight railway stations that will get new names are Kasimpur Halt, Jais, Misrauli, Bani, Nihalgarh, Akbarganj, Wazirganj Halt, and Fursatganj.
Lucknow Division Stations Have Been Renamed As follows:
- Kasimpur Halt is now Jais City.
- Jais is now Guru Gorakhnath Dham.
- Misrauli is now Maa Kalikan Dham.
- Bani is now Swami Paramhans.
- Nihalgarh is now Maharaja Bijli Pasi.
- Akbarganj is now Maa Ahorva Bhawani Dham.
- Wazirganj Halt is now Amar Shaheed Bhale Sultan.
- Fursatganj is now Tapeshwarnath Dham.
It further ordered that the numerical codes of those railway stations – as per “Alphabetical List of Railway Stations in India” by IRCA, New Delhi – shall remain unchanged.
It also ordered that the Secretary-General, IRCA, New Delhi, shall change the name and alphabetical codes of the railway stations accordingly.
Reacting to the announcement of station name changes, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav today called upon the BJP government to focus on changing the names of stations, besides taking interest in its conditions. He attacked the administration over the issue on social media, saying much more needs to be done in terms of ensuring safety.
Yadav attacked the administration on X and asked them to take interest in railway safety rather than just changing the names of railway stations.
He tweeted on Tuesday: “I urge the BJP government not only to change the names of the stations but also the condition of the station.” When you get time after naming, look into the record numbers of railway accidents that are happening.
