The Aligarh district administration on Thursday made biometrics mandatory for all madrasa teachers across the district. The new attendance rule marks a substantial change in the way these institutions are monitored. According to officials, the fresh system will directly determine the salaries disbursed to the teachers, to ensure transparency and streamline the administrative process.
Why Is Biometrics Mandatory For All Madrasa Teachers?
District Magistrate Sanjiv Ranjan said that the move follows directives from the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government. It helps to ensure that teaching staff are present throughout the working hours. Additionally, the DM also addressed questions regarding the efforts underway to identify ‘illegal madrasas’ operating across the district. The temporary pause of the ongoing survey has left teachers as well as administrators on standby until further instructions.
Compulsory Biometric Attendance For Salary Release
The salaries will be disbursed among the teaching staff strictly considering biometric attendance records in both government-aided and unaided institutions. According to reports, Aligarh has a total number of 120 registered madrasas, out of which 4 are government-aided and 116 are unaided. Meanwhile, 55 teachers work in the government-aided institutions, catering to around 14,000 students. On the other hand, unaided institutions have employed 200 teachers, catering to around 60,000 students.
