A shocking incident has left Kushinagar in turmoil after a one-day-old baby boy mysteriously disappeared from the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Kushinagar Medical College. The baby, admitted due to breathing issues shortly after his birth, went missing in the early hours, triggering chaos and an urgent search operation.
Parents accuse staff
According to the grieving family, the baby was born on Tuesday evening and shifted to the SNCU for further care. When the father went to check on him the next morning, he was stunned to find the cot empty. The baby’s name was correctly entered in the ward register, yet no one could explain where he had gone.
The distraught parents immediately alleged that a staff nurse may be involved in the disappearance. Their emotional outburst quickly escalated into a heated protest inside the hospital premises, drawing in relatives and other attendants.
Police launches high-level probe
Police rushed to the scene within minutes of receiving the complaint. All medical and non-medical staff on duty at the time have been questioned, including nurses, guards and ward in-charges. Senior officers, including the ASP and CO, visited the hospital to personally supervise the investigation.
CCTV footage from every corridor, entry point and neonatal ward is now being closely examined to trace any suspicious movement. Officers are also checking whether the baby was taken by someone impersonating hospital staff or if an internal error played a role.
The missing infant case has raised serious concerns about hospital safety protocols. Locals, activists and the baby’s family are urging authorities to act swiftly and bring the newborn back safely, as the search continues with urgency and hope.
