A massive fire erupted inside the premises of a primary school in Rema village, under Alinagar police station area of Chandauli district. The blaze started suddenly and spread so fast that the entire school complex was soon covered in flames and thick smoke, creating panic among nearby residents.
According to locals, dozens of pipe bundles kept for a Reliance company project caught fire first. Within minutes, the fire grew uncontrollable and reached a solar panel and a generator stored in the same area, completely destroying them. People living close to the school rushed out of their homes in fear as the flames grew higher.
Despite villagers trying to control the situation with water and sand, the fire kept spreading due to strong winds. Realising the danger, they immediately informed the fire brigade.
Fire brigade controls blaze after struggle
Fire department teams reached the spot quickly and began spraying water from all sides to stop the flames from spreading further. It took the firefighters nearly an hour of continuous effort to finally bring the situation under control.
By then, however, most of the pipe bundles, the solar panel and the generator had been burnt to ashes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the damage to property was significant.
Anger among villagers; demand for action
Villagers blamed the contractor for storing all the material in the open without any safety precautions. They said that keeping such flammable items in a school premises was extremely risky and such an incident was bound to happen sooner or later.
Police and administrative officials have inspected the site and further investigation is underway to find out how the fire started. The incident has left locals worried and demanding stricter safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
