A 24-year old man allegedly killed three members of his family with a spade in Jhangha area of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the accused , Ram Dayal Maurya, attacked a buffalo to which his grandfather, Kuber Maurya, tried to stop. Irked Ram Dayal hit him with a spade.
After hearing Kuber’s cries, his younger brother Sadhu Maurya and his wife Draupdi rushed to save Kuber but Ram Dayal gave fatal blows on their heads too.
All the three died on the spot. Ram Dayal took their bodies to the roadside and sat beside them.
The villagers alerted the police which reached the spot and arrested Ram Dayal.
Senior Superintendent of Police said that the spade used in the murder has been recovered. The police officials are interrogating the accused. He said the motive is still not clear and it seems that “Ram Dayal is mentally unstable”.
A couple of days ago, Ram Dayal had brandished a sharp weapon in the village. Another senior cop confirmed that the postmortem examinations were conducted.
