Rohit Gautam, the bank’s branch manager, explained that this status triggered a software glitch, causing an incorrect reflection of an enormous sum in the account.

He added that they informed Bhanu Prakash that the displayed amount was caused by a software bug related to the NPA status of the account. Immediate actions were taken to correct the error, and the account has been put on hold to prevent any potential misuse.

Gautam provided details on the bank’s procedure for handling such discrepancies.

He explained that for accounts classified as NPAs, specific limits are placed on linked savings accounts, which may lead to freezing the account to prevent additional problems. When Bhanu Prakash reviewed his account, it showed a negative balance due to these NPA restrictions. The bank worked to clarify the situation to him, and he was content with the actions taken to correct the issue.
