In a shocking incident, a man killed a 60-year-old woman after she allegedly pressured him to marry her. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district.
According to PTI, the police arrested the accused, identified as 45-year-old Imran, after scanning nearly 1,000 CCTV footage clips across five districts. The victim was identified as Joshina.
Police said that an unidentified body was found on November 14 near the roadside at the Nagla Bhus trisection in the Chandpa area of Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district.
The police formed 10 teams to identify the woman and trace the accused. Imran was arrested near the Hatisa bridge in Hathras. Police recovered the victim’s phone after Imran revealed its location.
A senior police officer said Imran had helped Joshina during her daughter’s marriage in Agra. Imran’s in-laws lived near Joshina’s residence, and they had frequently met. Over time, Imran and Joshina developed a relationship.
The officer said Joshina had arrived on November 10 to attend her granddaughter’s wedding. She started pressuring Imran to marry her, but he refused, as he is already married and has children.
Imran told the police that he left with Joshina on November 13 on the pretext of dropping her back to Kolkata. However, he got off at the Nagla Bhus trisection in Hathras. He confessed that he strangled her at the spot.
