Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal stated that Arun Singh, a retired soldier living in the Umri Begamganj area, had an ongoing conflict with Ramesh Bharti, a 46-year-old member of the Scheduled Caste community, over a piece of land.

On Monday evening, Arun Singh allegedly confronted Ramesh near Pakri Dubey village, within the Tarabganj (UP) police station area, and shot him, killing him instantly, according to Mr. Jaiswal.

After learning about the incident, senior police officials and a forensic team visited the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to the district headquarters for a postmortem, the SP said.

The officer added that a murder case has been registered at the local police station based on a complaint from the victim’s son, and multiple teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
