A tragic incident unfolded in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, when a fire erupted due to a gas cylinder pipe leakage during cooking. The accident led to severe burns for a mother and her two children, all of whom later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in Kanpur. The entire village was plunged into sorrow upon the return of their lifeless bodies.
The incident occurred in Khatauli village, located within the jurisdiction of the Lalauli police station. Umesh Vishwakarma, a skilled furniture artisan, left for his workshop in Bahua that fateful morning, leaving his wife, Alka Devi (27), in charge of preparing the family’s meal. Their son Gaurav Kumar (5) and daughter Pari (2) were also present in the room at the time.

Sadly, the day marked the beginning of Navratri, and Umesh was observing a fast. As he left for work, a tragic mishap unfolded as a gas cylinder pipe leakage led to a fire. In a heroic but heart-wrenching attempt to save their mother, both children sustained severe burns. Nearby residents rushed to their aid and managed to control the fire.
Umesh hurried back home upon receiving the distressing news and immediately rushed his wife and children to the Fatehpur district hospital. The critical condition of the victims led to their referral to a hospital in Kanpur. Unfortunately, the mother and her two children could not overcome their extensive injuries and succumbed to them, one by one, during the course of treatment at the Kanpur hospital.

Medical professionals revealed that the mother and her two children suffered burns affecting over 75 percent of their bodies due to the cylinder fire that occurred during cooking. Despite efforts to save them, both children passed away on their way to the hospital, while the mother lost her life near Hallett Hospital.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Vijay Shankar Mishra, confirmed that the incident resulted from burns caused by a gas cylinder fire while cooking. The victims were promptly transferred to Halat Hospital for treatment, where, unfortunately, all three of them lost their lives. Post-mortem examinations are underway, and legal action is being pursued.
