Jaipur: Police have finally succeeded in a 14-month-old kidnapping case of a kid from Jaipur after a months-long operation that was nothing less than a Bollywood drama. The kidnapper of the Jaipur-based 11-month-old kid was found to be a relative of the child’s mother and was posted in Aligarh as a head constable in the UP Police.

Emotional plot, dramatic trap

As per the police investigation, the kidnapping accused Tanuj Chahar wanted to live with the child named Kanha alias Prithvi along with his mother. He pressured Prithvi’s mother many times and after her continuous disapproval, attempted the abduction of the 11-months-old kid with the help of four others on June 14, 2023.

The kidnapper thereupon absconded and lived in Vrindavan in the guise of a saint where he stayed until his arrest after 14 months. Tanuj Chahar changed his look and lived in a cottage with the kid.

Tricks and tactics to remain free

To keep himself away from the radar of the police and his relatives, Chahar played very tricky. Initially, he remained absent from his workplace at the police line in Aligarh due to which he was later suspended on the charges of absence from duty. The accused had reportedly never used his mobile phone to make calls. Also, he kept changing locations after making every call. He never met any acquaintance or anyone twice during this period to avoid any chances of being caught.

Jaipur police accomplished

After receiving inputs about his presence in the area of Vrindavan as a saint, Jaipur police rushed to the spot and to catch him red-handed, they too followed him in the guise of a saint singing bhajans. Interestingly, the accused sensed this and ran away to the field with the child where he was caught.

The report of the kidnapping of an 11-month-old from the Sanganer area of Jaipur in June 2023 and then the absence and suspective involvement of a head constable stirred the Jaipur police. The administration finally grabbed the accused and got the child released after a span of 14 months.
