The Yamuna Expressway which currently operates between Noida and Agra in Uttar Pradesh is preparing to expand toward the cities of Mathura and Aligarh. This expansion effort will link the expressway to Brij Bhoomi the Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura while the temple is also known as a revered local site. The plans match the state initiative to create heritage corridors in Mathura like those established in Ayodhya and Kashi.
The Uttar Pradesh government approved the project according to Alok Kumar who holds the position as Principal Secretary of the Industrial Development Department. Through his X (Twitter) post he declared that “Mathura stands next for development”. The temple will gain better connectivity through an expressway which will have six lanes according to the announced plan and this development will help grow tourism throughout the area.
Principal Secretary of the Industrial Development Department, Alok Kumar mentioned on his X handle that, “The Phase 2 master plan of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has been approved by the Uttar Pradesh government. This will greatly benefit Aligarh and Mathura districts! The way has been cleared for the Chief Minister’s ambitious plan to connect Banke Bihari Ji’s temple with the Yamuna Expressway through a 6-lane expressway and to build heritage corridors on both its sides.”
