UP Cop Brutally Thrashed By Locals In Pilibhit; Four Arrested

The Pilibhit Police posted on X: "In the Puranpur Town Police Station, a case has been immediately registered regarding the assault on a police constable, and four people have been arrested. Action will also be taken against other individuals who come to light during the investigation."

A police constable was brutally thrashed by locals in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district. A video of the incident went viral on social media. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Puranpur Town Police Station. The cops were patrolling in the area.

In the viral clip, the locals are seen pinning the cop down on the road and thrashing him. The police said that a few locals had kept their shops open till late at night. When the cops asked them to shut their shops, a verbal spat broke out between them, which soon escalated into a verbal spat. Later, a few more locals joined in and brutally thrashed the constable.

The police said that a case has been registered, and four people have been arrested.

Life-convict out on bail in murder case arrested in rape case

In a separate incident, a life convict out on bail in a murder case has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a rape case registered last month at Patel Nagar police station, officials said on Sunday.

The arrested accused, identified as Manjeet alias Manja (39), is a resident of Patel Nagar, Bahadurgarh in Haryana.

According to the police, a complaint was received at the Patel Nagar Police Station on June 11 against the accused, Manjeet, in which the complainant levelled allegations of sexual offences.

Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 64(2), 127(3), 123, 308(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was initiated.
