UP: BJP Leader Caught on Camera Assaulting Dalit Engineer With Shoe In Ballia

Singh said that around two dozen men barged into his office and started thrashing him.

A video showing a BJP leader assaulting a Dalit engineer with a shoe in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia went viral on social media. The incident took place at the electricity department, where the saffron party leader also allegedly used caste slurs against him.

According to NDTV, the victim has been identified as Superintending Engineer Lal Singh.

Singh said that around two dozen men barged into his office and started thrashing him without any reason. He alleged that former BJP Divisional President Munna Bahadur Singh was among them.

In the viral clip, Munna Singh is seen shouting at officials. He initially tried to manhandle the engineer but stepped away briefly before returning with a shoe and hitting the engineer multiple times.

The engineer said, “Munna Bahadur Singh and his supporters thrashed him without giving any reason. Munna Singh hit me with a shoe and punched me.”

On the other hand, Munna Bahadur Singh said that he had gone to the office with an application regarding frequent power disruptions in the near by villages. He alleged that the engineer abused them when they threatened a sit-in over the issue. He also alleged that he abused them.
