A 38-year-old auto driver forced his wife to consume poison and then ended his own life by consuming a toxic substance in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. The driver took the step due to unpaid debt.
According to PTI, the deceased was identified as Yogesh, and his wife was identified as 35-year-old Renu. Yogesh was living with his wife and four children in Radha Vihar Colony. Yogesh was a native of Hathras.
A senior police officer said that Yogesh had taken a loan from an unidentified man to buy an auto for his younger brother. However, the brothers did not repay the loan to the lender.
The lender allegedly abused and assaulted Yogesh over the unpaid money, the officer said.
Yogesh returned home and told his wife about the incident. He expressed his desire to end his life. Renu tried to console him, but he threatened her, forcing her to consume poison. Later, he also consumed it.
The couple was rushed to the hospital. Yogesh was referred to Agra, where he died during treatment. Renu was admitted to the district hospital, where she survived and is out of danger.
Bengaluru surgeon arrested for killing his doctor wife with anaesthesia
Six months after the death of a 29-year-old dermatologist from Bengaluru, Marathahalli Police have arrested the victim’s husband, a fellow doctor, for allegedly murdering his wife by injecting anaesthetic drugs, police said on Wednesday.
According to the police, the husband, Dr Mahendra Reddy, allegedly overdosed his wife, Kruthika M Reddy, with anaesthetic drugs that caused fatal respiratory depression, leading to the death of the victim. The accused attempted to misrepresent the death as natural.
The wife, Kruthika M Reddy, reportedly fell ill and was rushed to the nearby hospital in Ayyappa Layout, Munnekolalu. The doctors examined her and confirmed that she was brought dead.
Commissioner of Police, Seemanth Kumar Singh, said that following the incident, an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) was filed, stating that the doctor died under mysterious circumstances.
