A woman in Uttar Pradesh has accused an ambulance driver and his aide of sexually assaulting her and disconnecting the oxygen support of her ill husband, leading to his death. The tragic incident took place on August 29 while the woman, her husband, and her brother were traveling from a private hospital in Lucknow. The accused also reportedly robbed the woman of her cash and belongings. The police have registered a case, and investigations are underway to arrest the suspects.
Tragic Ambulance Ride Turns Into Nightmare
The woman had hired a private ambulance from the Ghazipur (Indiranagar) area to transport her ailing husband, as they could no longer afford hospital treatment. Along with her brother, they set out on their journey, unaware of the terror that awaited them. According to the woman, the driver instructed her to sit in the front seat, suggesting her presence would prevent police from stopping them at night.
Once she was seated in the front, the driver and his aide allegedly began molesting her. Despite her repeated protests, the harassment continued. Her husband, who was critically ill, and her brother, confined to the driver’s cabin, tried to help by shouting, but the driver and his companion ignored them.
Oxygen Disconnected, Husband Dies
The situation worsened when the ambulance was stopped on a main road near Chhawani police station. The assailants forcibly removed the oxygen mask from her husband, threw him out of the ambulance, and continued their assault on the woman. The driver’s companion then locked her brother in the front cabin to prevent him from intervening.

In addition to the assault, the men stole Rs 10,000 from her purse, as well as her anklets, mangalsutra, Aadhaar card, and medical records.
Police Investigate After Complaint
After husband thrown on the road, the woman’s brother managed to contact local police, who arranged another ambulance to transport her husband to Gorakhpur Medical College. Unfortunately, her husband was declared dead upon arrival.
The woman filed a complaint at Ghazipur Police Station on September 4. Jitendra Kumar Dubey, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), stated that the police have registered a case and are actively working to arrest the suspects. The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for swift justice and increased safety measures for vulnerable individuals in similar situations.
