A 20-year-old youth was shot dead near a police outpost at Mishrana Chowk in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on March 10. The incident happened when Lucknow Range IG Prashant Kumar was present in the city to review the law and order situation ahead of Holi.
The deceased has been identified as Amogh Seth, a resident of the Hathipur locality. Seth was shot by a group of men. He was taken to hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
Another person, Aditya also sustained a bullet injury in his hand, but he was said to be out of danger. The police said the assailants, who came on bikes fled from the crime scene.
The IG and SSP Sankalp Sharma rushed to the crime scene.
The IG said the deceased had a dispute with a man, Anmol Puri. He said they are conducting a thorough probe into the matter, and soon the accused will be arrested.
Amogh ‘s father, Bharat Seth alleged that Anmol Puri and his five accomplices shot his son.
The SSP said that they are examining the CCTV footage of the area, and several teams have been formed to nab the accused.
