An 18-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her fiance, his lover, and the lover’s mother in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district. The woman was also set on fire by the accused to destroy evidence, police said.
According to PTI, police arrested the victim’s fiance, his lover, and the lover’s mother.
Victim was resident of the Laldih Husainabad Grint
The victim, identified as Shalimunish, was a resident of the Laldih Husainabad Grint area and was engaged to Imran, 22, a resident of Chhapia in Gonda district.
Meanwhile, Imran had developed a relationship with another woman, Sakina, through social media. When Shalimunish learned about their affair, she objected to the relationship, which became the reason for her killing, SP Vikas Kumar said.
Police: Sakina called Shalimunish to her residence
As per police, Sakina called Shalimunish to her residence, where Imran was already present. Both allegedly strangled the victim to death.
To conceal the offence and present her death as a suicide, Sakina and her mother poured kerosene on her and set her on fire. Police said the body has been sent for postmortem, and a case has been registered under relevant sections at Rehra police station.

In a separate incident, Bengaluru’s Jnanabharathi Police have arrested a man accused of harassing a young woman in Bengaluru. He forced the woman to create a romantic connection and harassed her by trying to tear off her clothes.
In a recent incident in Bengaluru, a man had begun pestering a woman by repetitively forcing her into a relationship after introducing himself through Instagram. The harassment escalated further as he would follow her wherever she went, hit her with his hands and use abrasive and abusive language towards her.
On December 22, the accused came to the PG she was living in and started to force her to fall in love with him. It escalated when he started hitting her on her head, back, and neck. He grabbed her by her hand to try to tear off the shirt she was wearing and ran away from the scene after the harassment.
