Hathras Road Accident: A roadways bus crashed into a van on the Agra-Aligarh National Highway near Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, killing at least 17 people, including women and children. Sixteen injured individuals have been taken to a government hospital and are receiving treatment.
Hathras Superintendent of Police Nipun Agarwal said the accident happened when the bus tried to overtake the van on the Agra-Aligarh National Highway. The crash occurred near Kanwarpur village, about 10 kilometers from the district headquarters. The Hathras Police returned the bodies to their families after the post-mortem.
Deceased Identified: 17 Killed, Including 4 Children
The deceased have been identified as Irshad (25), Munne Khan (55), Muskan (16), Talli (28), Tabassum (28), Najma (25), Bhola (25), Khushbu (25), Jameel (50), Chote (25), Ayan (2), Sufiyan (1), Alfaz (6), Shoaib (5), and Ishrat (50). The SP added that they are working to identify all the victims, and those responsible will be held accountable. Four of the victims were children.
After the accident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed district officials to visit the site and handle relief efforts. He also announced financial aid: Rs 2 lakh for each deceased’s family and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
PM Modi Expressed Sorrow On Hathras Incident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow on X, saying, “The road accident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh is deeply distressing. My heartfelt condolences to those who lost loved ones. I hope for their strength during this tough time and wish a quick recovery for the injured.”
He added that the local administration, under state government oversight, is helping the victims in every way possible.
PM Modi announced Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
