Union Budget 2023: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting Budget 2023. The budget is full of bundle of gifts for Indians. Sitharam has annoynces that the government permitted businesses to use their Permanent Account Number (PAN) as a unique identifier when entering the national single window system to obtain various clearances and approvals from the central and state departments.
For business establishments required to have Permanent Account Number, the PAN will be used as a common identifier for all Digital Systems of specified government agencies, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman.

Further, FM Nirmala Sitharaman says, “A one-stop solution for reconciliation & updating of identity and address of individuals maintained by various govt agencies, regulators and regulated entities will be established using DigiLocker service and Aadhaar as foundational identity”.
it is noted that there are more than 13 different business IDs like EPFO, ESIC, GSTN, TIN, TAN and PAN, which are being used to apply for various government approvals.
The national single window system (NSWS) aims to reduce duplication of information submission to various ministries, reduce compliance burden, shorten project gestation periods, and promote ease of starting and doing business.

For all integrated states and central departments, NSWS enables the identification, application, and subsequent tracking of approvals.
The use of a PAN number will assist in auto-populating other application forms that will be received in the system, thereby speeding up the approval process and encouraging more companies to apply on the system.
The system currently accepts applications for 248 government-to-business clearance and approvals from 26 central ministries and departments, including states.
