Guwahati: Two people were killed and two others injured in a firing incident in the Panbari area near the Assam-Arunachal border in Dhemaji district on Monday.
As per sources, the attack was carried out from the Arunachal Pradesh side. Although there is no official confirmation of this.
According to the news agency ANI, Boga Chutia and Monitu Gogoi were sought down by unknown miscreants. The local police and district administration have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ruled out the possibility of Arunachal miscreants being behind the attack, saying it was a land dispute between the people of the region. He said that a detailed investigation of the incident is being done by the police with the cooperation of the district administration.
