Prayagraj: The police on Saturday arrested two of six people, who were charged for allegedly smoking hookah and cooking non-veg on a boat at Sangam, Prayagraj.
A video of the incident surfaced on the internet a while back leading to the registration of a case by the police.
According to reports, police, on Thursday, filed a case against two named and six unnamed people under IPC sections 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different religious groups) after a video surfaced.
Daraganj police identified the arrested two as Hassan Ahmed (30) and Mohammad Asif (25).
Daraganj is a pilgrimage site and people are expected not to do anything that can hurt religious sentiments, news agency PTI quoted circle officer Aastha Jaiswal as saying.
The rest of the accused are being identified and arrests will be made soon, she added.
