One Dead As Massive Tree Falls On Busy Delhi Road Amid Heavy Rains

Amid the excessive rains in the National Capital a tree uprooted and fell on a father and daughter duo riding past it. Here's everything You Need To know-

Amid the ongoing excessive rains, a man and his daughter were severely injured when a tree was uprooted and fell on them in South Delhi. The man identified as Sudhir Kumar(50) succumbed to his injuries at AIIMS trauma care centre, the Police informed ANI. The national capital has been witnessing excessive rains, which have led to waterlogging and traffic jams, disrupting the lives of the people. As per CCTV footage, at 9:50 AM, an old neem tree was uprooted during the excessive rains and lay flat on Sudhir and her daughter, who were passing by. Two vehicles in the proximity were also damaged when the tree fell.

Lodged under the immense weight of the tree, the car managed to power out after a while, as bystanders rushed in to help the bikers trapped underneath.

The constabulary responded to the PCR call swiftly and reached the location of the incident. The two victims were transported promptly to the hospital through a CATS ambulance. Both father and daughter, who suffered the accident, are under treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Sudhir Kumar (50) and his daughter, Priya (22), were trapped under the tree and suffered critical injuries.

Beyond the accident, the fallen tree also caused excessive damage to the cars parked in the vicinity and blocked the road. The police took swift action and bisected the tree into smaller parts for easier transportation out of the area.

Excessive Rains in Delhi

Several parts of Delhi have been reported to be affected by heavy rains, causing inconvenience to commuters during the morning rush hour.

Delhi Police has issued several alerts warning commuters of traffic jams at multiple locations, including Moolchand Underpass, AIIMS flyover, and South Extension loop, suggesting they take alternative routes.

Delhi Airport also issued an advisory, urging fliers to consider taking the Metro to prevent delays, in view of waterlogging and traffic.
